Example Question:
Do pellet grills smoke a lot?
Ok, so in terms of smoke production, a standard pellet grill/smoker is not going to produce as much smoke as say, an offset smoker or a Kamado grill.
The reason is that a pellet grill is actually running a very small fire, but the fire is running very efficiently so it can produce a lot of heat. However, as a result, a pellet fire won't produce as much smoke as an inefficient log/charcoal fire in an offset smoker etc.
Some pellet grills are now being fitted with a 'Smoke Box', which can be loaded with wood chips, wood chunks and charcoal to increase smoke production. However, it still won't be exactly comparable to a large inefficient fire in an offset smoker in terms of smoke production.
