Yes, the Ranger does not have its own built-in battery. Therefore it needs a source of electricity. It also needs AC power, therefore, when using the Ranger out and about if you want to power it from a cars/trucks/RVs 12V DC battery you will need an inverter.

Traeger sells their own inverter for the Ranger, its the same one which is sold for their larger Tailgater portable pellet grill. However, there is nothing special about it. There are loads of DC to AC inverters on the market that can do the same job.

While the Traeger Ranger may not have its own battery, there are now loads of portable power banks on the market that could power the Ranger, along with your phone, camping lights etc.
