Now, its very very important that when you have finished using a pellet grill you use the shutdown button on the control panel so it can go through its shut-down procedure instead of turning the power off at the wall or unplugging the power cable.

The reason is the pellet grill/smoker needs to keep the fan running for up to 20 minutes to fully combust the remaining pellet fuel in the burn pot.

If this is not done, this could create a dangerous scenario on start-up where excessive smoke is generated, which could lead to an explosion, especially if the lid on the pellet grill/smoker is left down during the start-up procedure.
