Example Question:
Is the Recteq Bullseye good for smoking?
You may have been browsing our database (if not, link below) and you've come across the cheapest Recteq model the Bullseye, and its maximum temperature setting of 750 degrees probably stud out to you, as it is indeed one of the most capable pellet grills in our database when it comes to high-temperature grilling and searing, but what about smoking?
Well, the Bullseye can indeed be used as a pellet smoker, as its temperature settings go down to 200 degrees. However, personally, I would describe the Bullseye as more of a pellet grill than a pellet smoker.
Why? Well, first off, the cooking area of the Bullseye is quite small at just 380 square inches. Therefore, you may struggle to fit large cuts of meat on there such as a full packer brisket. Not only due to the limited surface area but also due to the shape of the grate as a circle instead of a rectangle (the shape of a packer brisket).
Also, as the burn pot is located in the center, directly under the center of the grate, its harder to do indirect heat cooking, even at lower temperature settings.
