Example Question:
Are pellet grills better than charcoal grills?
Pellet grills are better than charcoal grills when it comes to precise temperature regulation and when it comes to the low & slow side of things. The key strength of pellet grills/smokers is the reduced time investment to achieve great BBQ due to their automated temperature regulation.
However, what you will typically get from a charcoal grill compared to a pellet grill is a stronger flavor of smoke. The reason is that with a more efficient/controlled fire, you get less smoke production.
There are pellet grills that are now fitted with a Smoke Box which you can find through our database (link below) which can be loaded with charcoal to increase smoke production. But as a very general rule, charcoal grills will produce a more noticeable/stronger smoke flavor than a pellet grill.
Whether you are actually after the stronger smoke flavor is obviously a personal preference. Or would you value more the time a pellet grill can save you in cooking your food?
