Sure, but the thing to remember is that every pellet grill is also a pellet smoker. Therefore, if you have the time, instead of just turning a pellet grill to its highest temperature straight away, you'll get more flavor by reverse-searing burgers (smoking then searing them).

This would typically involve smoking the burners at a temperature between 180 to 225 degrees where the pellet fire will be producing the most smoke.

When it comes to searing the burgers, some pellet grills only have a maximum temperature setting of 450 degrees, which is not ideal for getting a good sear on burgers.

However, there are many models with a maximum temperature setting of 500 degrees plus and some that offer direct-flame access for a grate temperature of 650 degrees plus. So yes, there are lots of pellet grills that can sear burgers as well as any gas grill can.
