The Camp Chef Apex 24 has been designed to be upgraded with a gas kit to provide pellet smoking and gas grilling in a single BBQ. Whereas, the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 24 is very different, its a pellet smoker that has been upgraded with a Smoke Box that can be loaded with wood chips, chunks, or charcoal.

So straight off the bat, if you're looking for the most smoke flavor possible, you'd opt for the Woodwind Pro 24 over the Apex 24. However, if you do spend a lot of your time grilling/searing foods, then the Apex 24 would be the better option, if it's fitted with the gas kit.

However, without the gas kit the standard Apex 24 is no more capable at grilling than the Woodwind Pro 24 as they both rely on the pellet burn pot to provide a maximum temperature setting of 500 degrees, and neither model has direct flame access.

There is a notable price difference between them as well, with the Apex 24 costing around $600 more than the Woodwind Pro 24. You can also get the Woodwind Pro 24 with a propane SideKick and it will still come in around $300 less than the Apex 24.
